FOGO CRUZADO
INSTITUTE
Without data there is no efficient security policy
In a country where thousand of people are gunned down every year, Fogo Cruzado has emerged as a force for change. Since 2016, we have been mapping and publishing over 50 indicators on gun violence. We provide unique and collaborative information for the metropolitan areas of Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Salvador and Belém, covering 57 cities and building the largest database on armed violence in Latin America.
Our methodology is groundbreaking; our data is open. Fogo Cruzado provides free information so each citizen can turn it into a tool for change. Here, technology and transparency come together to boost civic engagement, inform efficient public policies and revive the public safety debate in Brazil. MISSION: Making cities safer using open and collaborative technologies to deal with armed violence, promote social transformation and save lives.
